Facing eviction from his Los Angeles residence, Mickey Rourke has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover overdue rent. The effort has already raised more than half of its $100,000 target.

Veteran actor Mickey Rourke has reached out to the public for help as he faces the possibility of losing his Los Angeles home. On January 4, Rourke’s supporters set up a GoFundMe campaign titled ‘Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home’ after he reportedly received a notice last month demanding payment of $60,000 in back rent or risk eviction. The campaign has quickly gained traction, with donations surpassing $51,000 toward the $100,000 goal.

The fundraiser’s page describes Rourke as a unique force in American film, stating,

“Mickey Rourke entered American cinema like a force of nature—raw, fearless, and utterly original. In the late 1970s and 1980s, he wasn’t just a movie star; he was a symbol of something rare: danger paired with vulnerability, toughness paired with heart.”

The description highlights the challenges Rourke has faced over the years, noting that the entertainment industry moved on after his peak, leaving him to navigate hardships on his own.

Struggles Beyond the Spotlight

The campaign emphasizes that Rourke’s situation is a reminder that fame doesn’t shield anyone from adversity.

“Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability. What remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing, and the chance to regain his footing,”

the page reads. The fundraiser was launched with Rourke’s approval, aiming to give him a chance to avoid eviction and regain stability in his life.

Rourke rose to fame in the 1980s as a leading figure in action films, earning a reputation for his intense performances and complex characters. However, his outspoken nature and controversial opinions eventually led to his estrangement from Hollywood, making it difficult for him to secure steady work in recent years.

Recent Public Appearances and Legal Disputes

Most recently, the 73-year-old actor appeared on the British reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2025. His time on the show was cut short after he was removed early for making inappropriate and aggressive remarks toward two other contestants. Following his exit, Rourke announced plans to take legal action against the broadcaster, claiming he received only a fraction of the payment he was promised for participating in the show.

Despite the setbacks, the outpouring of support for Rourke’s fundraiser demonstrates that many fans and members of the public still recognize his contributions to film and are eager to help him through this difficult period.
