Michael B. Jordan is stepping behind the scenes once again, this time to produce a fresh take on the iconic heist film, The Thomas Crown Affair. After making waves both in front of and behind the camera with Creed III, Jordan is now assembling a powerhouse cast for his latest project. Recent updates reveal that Aubrey Plaza, Ruth Negga, and Papa Essiedu—who’s set to play a future Harry Potter villain—are joining the lineup. They’ll appear alongside an already impressive roster featuring Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Pilou Asbæk, Danai Gurira, and Lily Gladstone.
Classic Heist, New Direction
The original 1968 film starred Steve McQueen as a wealthy playboy who orchestrates elaborate art thefts for the thrill of it. His world turns upside down when he becomes romantically involved with an insurance investigator, played by Faye Dunaway, who’s determined to catch him. I didn’t want a reboot. I wanted a reimagination. The first two films were about rich white guys stealing for fun. That doesn’t land today. Ours is more personal. The stakes are higher. Still got the fashion, romance.
