Marvel confirms Daredevil: Born Again ends with season 3, prompting boos at NYCC
Marvel left the NYCC crowd bristling with an announcement about Daredevil: Born Again — and it’s not the future fans wanted.
Jeers rippled through the Javits Center when Marvel confirmed on stage that the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will be its last. The announcement came during a packed New York Comic Con panel led by Marvel’s TV chief Brad Winderbaum, and it immediately drew loud boos from the crowd.
Charlie Cox didn’t duck the reaction. Taking the mic, the Daredevil star nodded to the grassroots movement that once helped push the character back into the MCU conversation.
"All I'll say is that I imagine the 'Save Daredevil' campaign will be gearing up for round two. Listen, you don't want to invite the wrath of the 'Save Daredevil' people!"
First look: Matt behind bars
Marvel also screened exclusive season 3 footage. It opened on Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist sitting together — a Defenders reunion that immediately calls out who’s missing. Jessica says Daredevil isn’t there because he’s been locked up after the fallout of season 2.
Subsequent clips showed Matt Murdock in prison, methodically wrapping his hands before throwing down with hostile inmates in tight, brutal fights — the kind of close-quarters brawling that defined the character’s Netflix era.
The Defenders are back
This is the first full onscreen reunion of the four original Defenders since their 2017 Netflix miniseries. On the panel, Ritter said the vibe picked up right where they left off, and Finn Jones agreed.
"No time had passed,"
"[It] felt like 2016 all over again."
Mike Colter couldn’t attend NYCC but is set to reprise Luke Cage in the new season. Vincent D’Onofrio also returns as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, the looming threat tying their New York streets back together.
