The Oscar-winning documentary Marjoe ripped the gloss off revival preaching—here’s where to watch it.

If you’ve never seen Marjoe—the Oscar- winning, exposé-style documentary about former child evangelist Marjoe Gortner—the easiest way in right now is the free, ad-supported route in the U.S. The film is widely available without a subscription, and most apps don’t even require an account.

  • Watch free (with ads): Tubi, Fawesome, Plex, Cineverse, Fandango at Home Free
It ’s not on Netflix —in the U.S. it’s free (with ads) on Tubi, Plex, Cineverse, Fawesome and Fandango at Home Free.

Prefer to fold it into a live TV or specialty doc subscription? It’s included on Philo, fuboTV, and via the Fandor and DocuramaFilms channels on Amazon. If you’d rather just rent it, prices start at about $2.99 on Amazon Video; Apple TV lists it for $2.99–$3.99 to rent and from about $7.99 to buy. Availability tends to shift, so a quick check on JustWatch before you pay can save you a few bucks.

Running a tight 88 minutes, the 1972 film was directed by Howard Smith and Sarah Kernochan after Gortner approached Smith in 1971 looking for publicity. The tagline—“You Keep the Faith… Marjoe Keeps the Money”—sets the tone as Gortner, ordained at age 4, walks the filmmakers through the stagecraft behind revival preaching. Free options are strongest inside the U.S., with some reach in Canada.
