Lady Gaga Scraps Montreal Concert Over Medical Condition — She's Heartbroken
Lady Gaga pulled the plug on her Montreal show Monday, April 6, citing a respiratory infection in an Instagram Story and apologizing to fans for the last-minute cancellation.
Brutal timing: Lady Gaga had to pull the plug on her Montreal show tonight. She says she has a respiratory infection that got worse over the last few days, and her doctor told her not to go on. Not the ending Montreal fans wanted for her run there, and she knows it.
What happened
On Monday, April 6, Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta, 40) posted on Instagram that she was too sick to perform. She’s been trying to rest and recover, but the infection worsened to the point where, per her doctor, performing wasn’t smart. She also said what most artists hate to admit: even if she went on, she didn’t think she could deliver the kind of show people paid to see.
She apologized to everyone who made plans for tonight at Montreal’s Centre Bell and called last week’s two shows there 'magical' and meaningful, which makes canceling this third one sting even more. Her words summed it up: she’s heartbroken and sorry to let people down.
Where the tour stands now
This was supposed to be the final Montreal date on the Mayhem Ball tour, after shows on Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3. The tour itself kicked off in Las Vegas last year and is down to its last few stops.
- Montreal, Centre Bell: Played April 2 and April 3; April 6 canceled
- Saint Paul, MN, Grand Casino Arena: April 9 and April 10 (still on the schedule)
- New York City, Madison Square Garden: April 13 (tour closer)
How we got here
When Gaga announced the Mayhem Ball in March 2025, she admitted touring wasn’t on her 2025 bingo card. Then the new album hit, fans lost it in the best way, and she flipped the switch. She credited Arthur Fogel and the Live Nation team for spinning up a global itinerary in a matter of weeks — which, if you know how these machines usually move, is wildly fast.
She also went all-in on arenas this time. Her reasoning: tighter control over the details than stadiums allow, so the show could be as theatrical and electrifying as she pictured it — the whole 'MAYHEM' vision brought to life. Classic Gaga move, and the fans (aka monsters) have been eating it up.
The health and headspace piece
This isn’t the first hiccup this run. Earlier on the tour, she postponed a Miami show an hour before curtain because of vocal issues. She’s also talked openly about managing her health more broadly — at one point saying she was about 95 percent better with her fibromyalgia — and about how she approaches the stage these days.
'I’m not an adrenaline junkie anymore. I used to love that feeling. I see all the fans, and I’m in this big dress, and the music is so loud and it’s very dramatic ... and for 90 seconds, I have to talk myself out of a panic attack.'
Point is, she’s clearly decided to protect the work by protecting herself. It’s frustrating in the moment, especially if you had tickets tonight, but this late in a long tour, rest has to win so the rest of the dates can actually happen.
