After lashing out at his now-ex in the latest Summer House episode, Kyle Cooke, 43, issued a public apology to estranged wife Amanda Batula, writing on Instagram, “There’s no excuse for how I acted last summer,” alongside a throwback photo on Thursday, March 26.

Kyle Cooke just did the thing reality stars rarely do: he owned it. Two days after a rough episode of Summer House aired where he went off on Amanda Batula, his now-estranged wife, Kyle put out a public apology. The timing is that classic reality TV time warp — filmed last summer, aired this week, posted about now — but the message was pretty straightforward.

The apology, in his own words

On Thursday, March 26, Kyle, 43, shared a throwback pic of him and Amanda on Instagram and posted a note saying he was wrong, full stop. He added that they’ve already talked privately, but he felt like he had to say it publicly too.

"There is no excuse for how I acted last summer. The way I spoke to and about Amanda was unacceptable, and it’s brutal to watch back... I’m truly sorry and regret the way I handled myself... she never deserved that, and I need to be better."

What we just watched on the show

The Tuesday, March 24 episode (shot months before their breakup) caught the blowup. During a night out, a visibly drunk Kyle told costar West Wilson, 31, that Amanda, 34, gave him "f*** you eyes." West pushed back, saying that wasn’t what happened. In his interviews, Kyle said he felt isolated and alone in the relationship.

Things spiraled when Kyle accused Amanda of spending all her time with their friends and icing him out at bars and back at the house. Amanda shot back that she does her own thing because he’s usually off chatting up random people. Then it got ugly: as she walked away, he said, "You’re a f***ing dumbass bitch." She answered, "Oh yeah, I’m a dumbass bitch, Kyle."

Amanda also told the cameras that, frankly, this was a calmer version of Kyle compared to what she’s dealt with over the last decade — and she admitted she’s not perfect either.

His on-camera explanation

After cooling off, Kyle said there’s no excuse for dropping an F-bomb at your wife. He framed his eruption as a breaking point after getting what he felt was the cold shoulder and steady little jabs, adding that he used to think it was all in his head until he watched previous summers back.

How we got here

  • 2015: Kyle and Amanda start dating.
  • September 2021: They get married.
  • Summer 2025: The season with the fight is filmed.
  • January 2026: They announce their split.
  • Tuesday, March 24, 2026: The fight airs.
  • Thursday, March 26, 2026: Kyle posts his public apology.

Bottom line: it was hard to watch, and Kyle admits it was hard to rewatch. Whether the public apology changes anything between them is another story, but at least he’s saying the quiet part out loud now — even if it’s arriving after the marriage has already ended.
