Dave Bautista showed off the physique he’s been preparing for a certain series—bet you can guess which.

In a new training clip on Instagram, Dave Bautista says he’s three weeks back into heavy lifting as he gears up to play Kratos in Prime Video ’s live-action God of War. He added he needs “two more months” to hit his target, offering the clearest hint yet at where his physical prep stands.

“Third week in to weight training again. Two more months to get to where I need to be. Like ridin’ a bike!”

The update is Bautista’s first substantial glimpse at his Kratos regimen since stepping in for Ryan Hurst, who exited the role after an on-set injury reportedly caused a severe bicep tear earlier this year. For the former WWE standout and Guardians of the Galaxy alum, packing on size isn’t new — but the timeline suggests the production’s clock is being reset around his transformation.

Where the schedule stands

Filming had been expected to resume in mid-October, according to earlier guidance. If Bautista’s two-month window holds, cameras are now more likely to roll in late October or early November.

When production does restart, Bautista will lead a cast that currently includes:

  • Callum Vinson — Atreus
  • Teresa Palmer — Sif
  • Ólafur Darri Ólafsson — Thor

Developed for Prime Video, the series draws from Sony’s 2018 God of War and 2022’s God of War Ragnarök, following Kratos and his son Atreus on a perilous trek through the realm of Norse mythology.

Prime Video has not announced a release date.
