Kevin Spacey’s Hollywood Return in Jeopardy as New Lawsuits Loom
Kevin Spacey faces fresh sexual assault allegations and a court date in October 2026, putting his potential return to Hollywood on hold. Although previous cases ended without convictions, these new civil lawsuits could further complicate his comeback.
Kevin Spacey’s ambitions to reclaim his place in the film industry have hit another major roadblock. The actor, who recently spoke about his ongoing struggle to find steady work and described himself as “homeless” due to constantly moving for small acting gigs, is now facing a new round of sexual assault allegations that threaten to derail any hopes of a career revival.
Back in 2017, Spacey’s career took a dramatic turn after Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual assault and battery. That initial claim opened the floodgates, with over a dozen others stepping forward with similar accusations. The fallout was swift: Spacey was dropped from major projects, including Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World—where his scenes were reshot with Christopher Plummer—and he was fired from the final season of House of Cards. Despite the public scrutiny, Spacey has never been convicted in any of the cases brought against him. Legal outcomes have often hinged on issues like expired statutes of limitations, unwillingness of alleged victims to testify, or, in some cases, the death of an accuser. His most recent trial in Britain, in 2023, ended with him acquitted on nine charges, while three others were dismissed.
Fresh Allegations and Upcoming Court Battle
Now, Spacey is set to return to court in October 2026 to face civil lawsuits from three British men who allege he assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. The cases may be heard together or separately. Spacey has denied two of the claims, while he has yet to respond to the third. Notably, two of the men have previously been involved in criminal proceedings against him.
While the identities of two accusers remain confidential, the third has been named as Ruari Cannon, an actor who alleges Spacey groped him at an after-party during Spacey’s time at the Old Vic. Cannon appeared in the documentary Spacey Unmasked, which featured accounts from nine other individuals who claimed to have experienced sexual misconduct or assault by the Oscar-winning actor.
Uncertain Future in the Entertainment Industry
Spacey has made it clear in recent interviews that he’s determined to fight for a second chance in Hollywood.
“I have no intention of giving up on trying to reclaim the Hollywood career I have lost.”
However, with these new legal battles on the horizon, the possibility of a successful return seems more distant than ever. If the upcoming court proceedings end in his favor, Spacey may once again seek opportunities in the industry, but the shadow of these allegations continues to cast doubt on his future prospects.
