Kelly Clarkson Ends Her Talk Show, Stages Triumphant Return to The Voice for Season 30
Kelly Clarkson is back on The Voice this fall, NBC revealed on Instagram, marking a comeback after seasons 14–21 and a brief return — Team Kelly is officially in play again.
Kelly Clarkson is back in the big red chair. NBC confirmed on Thursday, May 7 that she will return as a coach on The Voice this fall. Their Instagram even led with: 'Team Kelly has RE-entered the chat.' Given everything she has been juggling lately, the timing tracks.
Quick catch-up: Kelly and The Voice
- She was on the show across seasons 14 through 21.
- She popped back in for season 23, then stepped away when her family moved from California to New York.
- Most recently, she returned for season 29, the 'Battle of the Champions' cycle that wrapped last month.
Why now
Clarkson, 44, is winding down The Kelly Clarkson Show, which will end later this year after seven seasons. Back in February on Today, she explained that her home life had shifted and her priorities had, too — the short version: life changes, and she is adjusting accordingly.
Part of that shift was deeply personal. Her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, died in 2025 after a private battle with cancer. He was 48. He is survived by four children: River Rose, 11, and Remington, 9, whom he shared with Clarkson, and Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. Clarkson took a break from both The Voice and her talk show right after his passing.
When she later addressed leaving her daytime series, she pushed back on the idea that she was quitting work altogether. It was more about clearing a too-full plate and being present for her kids — a hard call professionally, but an easy one as a parent.
"Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives."
What this means going forward
When she announced the talk show was ending earlier this year, Clarkson hinted she might still pop up on The Voice 'from time to time' and teased, 'You never know where I might show up next.' Now we know: she is back on The Voice this fall. Given her history with the show — and the fact that she never really left TV so much as rebalanced it — this feels like a smart, streamlined return.
