Josh Duhamel says he and ex Fergie are in a great place, praising her as a devoted mom and their drama-free co-parenting — and adding that wife Audra Mari is fully on board — in a Thursday chat on Tomi Lahren Is Fearless.

Josh Duhamel just gave a refreshingly normal update on life with his ex, Fergie — and yes, everybody is getting along. For a Hollywood split, that alone is newsworthy.

'It is as good as it could possibly be... It is very civil. There is no hostility between anybody.'

On the Thursday, April 23 episode of the 'Tomi Lahren Is Fearless' podcast, the 'Ransom Canyon' actor, 53, said he and Fergie are in a good place, he thinks she is a great mom, and — the part most people will be curious about — his wife Audra Mari and Fergie have a solid relationship too. That is not the norm, and he knows it.

Duhamel and Fergie were married from 2009 to 2019 and share a son, Axl, who is 12 now and was born in August 2013. The two separated before their divorce wrapped in 2019, and three years after that, in 2022, Duhamel married Mari. He and Mari already have a son, Shepherd, and they announced earlier this year that baby No. 2 is on the way.

  • 2009: Duhamel and Fergie marry
  • Aug. 2013: Son Axl is born (now 12)
  • 2017: They separate
  • 2018: Fergie exits the Black Eyed Peas to focus on family ( J. Rey Soul steps in as the group’s vocalist)
  • 2019: Divorce is finalized; they split 50-50 custody of Axl
  • 2022: Duhamel marries Audra Mari
  • Now: Duhamel and Mari share son Shepherd and are expecting their second child

He also looked back at what it was like being married while Fergie was, well, Fergie — a global headliner with the Black Eyed Peas and a solo career on top of that. He said it took some time to adjust because the group was packing stadiums around the world. Fair point: that level of fame changes your day-to-day, whether you like it or not.

The custody side is straightforward: when their divorce was finalized in 2019, they agreed to equal, 50-50 custody of Axl. In an October 2023 sit-down on 'In Depth With Graham Bensinger,' Duhamel explained that both he and Fergie grew up with divorced parents who did not get along — and they wanted to give Axl the opposite experience.

'We both wanted the same thing — an easy place for him that is not awkward or uncomfortable or pressure-filled.'

As for the split itself, Duhamel has been consistent: there was no big blowup. He says they had a good run, eventually wanted different things, and as he got older he felt the pull back to North Dakota. No grudges, no drama — just two people moving in different directions. He considers himself lucky that Fergie is, in his words, a kind person, and he is intent on keeping the current, calm setup exactly as it is.
