Jon Bernthal promises his take on Frank Castle will deliver the same relentless energy in both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming Disney+ Punisher special, teasing fans with a thrilling, action-packed return.

After nearly ten years since his first appearance, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle is finally set to step into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s spotlight, going head-to-head with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While Marvel is keeping most details about the web-slinger’s next adventure tightly under wraps, one thing is certain: Bernthal’s hard-hitting vigilante won’t be limited to just one project. Soon after his big-screen debut, Castle will headline his own special presentation on Disney+, giving fans a fresh look at the character in a new setting.

Maintaining the Punisher’s Edge

Fans have long wondered how the gritty, no-nonsense style of the Punisher would mesh with the more family-friendly world of Spider-Man. The expectation has been that Castle’s solo outing would be a much darker, more violent affair compared to his appearance alongside the friendly neighborhood hero. However, Bernthal has made it clear that the core of Frank Castle’s character—his unyielding rage—will remain unchanged, no matter the setting.

He emphasized that this consistency was a top priority not just for himself, but also for Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton. Their shared vision was to ensure that Castle could seamlessly transition from one story to the next without missing a beat.

High-Octane Action on the Horizon

In a recent interview, Bernthal shared his excitement for the upcoming Disney+ special, promising fans an experience that stays true to the Punisher’s roots.

“Around that same time, there will also be this Punisher special that's coming out, that I think will be as high-octane Punisher as you've ever seen,”

he said.

“I think what was really important to me and to Destin and to Tom is that we believed that The Punisher could walk off of the Spider-Man set and could walk onto the special set, and I do believe that we achieved that.”

This approach means viewers can expect a consistent, relentless portrayal of Frank Castle, whether he’s sharing the screen with Spider-Man or taking center stage in his own story. The promise of unfiltered intensity is sure to excite longtime fans and newcomers alike as the Punisher prepares to make his mark in both projects.
