Jessica Alba Opens Up About Her Most Difficult Movie Scene
Jessica Alba reflects on her experience filming a controversial scene in The Fantastic Four, calling it a low point in her career during a candid discussion at the Red Sea Film Festival.
Jessica Alba recently shared a candid reflection on one of the most challenging moments in her acting career. Speaking at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Alba was asked to recall her least favorite scene from her time in Hollywood. She didn’t hesitate to point to a particular moment from the first The Fantastic Four film, where her character, Storm, appears nude on a bridge.
Alba described the experience as deeply uncomfortable, saying,
“I thought that was awful.”
She went on to explain just how difficult it was for her to film the scene, adding,
“It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”
Memories of Playing Storm
Despite the negative feelings surrounding that particular scene, Alba still holds a special place in her heart for the character of Storm. She played the role in two movies, released in 2005 and 2007, and spoke warmly about the character’s qualities.
“She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind. She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her,”
Alba said. She also noted how female characters in superhero stories have evolved over time, saying,
“Oftentimes, the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy or the villain, the problem in the story. This was back then. It’s different now.”
Family Movie Nights and Marvel Fandom
Alba admitted she hasn’t yet seen Fantastic Four: First Steps, the latest installment in the franchise, which features Vanessa Kirby as the new Storm. She explained that family movie nights are usually dictated by her children’s preferences.
“I usually watch those movies with my kids, and if Sonic was out, my son wants to watch it 85 times in a row. When it comes to movies that are for the family, my kids dominate what we watch for sure. But I have to convince him because we have to see it! I love Marvel, and they’re so fun.”
Other Highlights from the Festival
The Red Sea Film Festival also saw a rare public appearance from Michael Caine, who accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award. During his emotional speech, Caine, now in a wheelchair, confirmed his retirement from acting.
“I kept going until I was 90, which is two years ago. I’m not going to do anything else, I’ve had all the luck I can get.”
