Jacob Elordi just caught Ridley Scott’s eye, a nod that doubles as an early tease of what The Dog Stars might deliver.
On the set of The Dog Stars, Ridley Scott says Jacob Elordi didn’t wait for instructions — he just did the work. In a new People interview, the director paints a picture of a 29-year-old star who hopped on a lawnmower tractor, slid into cockpits and moved through deserted towns like he’d been doing it for years, calling Elordi “kind of a farm boy.”
“He got onto that lawnmower tractor, just started the engine, started working it. Nobody told him how.”
A rare Scott compliment
Scott isn’t known for handing out easy praise, which makes Elordi’s shout-out notable. Over the years, only a small circle of actors has drawn that kind of enthusiasm from the filmmaker.

Scott told People that three dogs played Jasper, each trained for a different task — one for attack work, one for playful moments, and one that could calmly sit inside the cockpit. He said Elordi handled them all with ease and sensitivity, a key note given that Jasper is central to Hig’s grief in the story.
