After 14 years together, Haylie Duff and fiancé Matthew Rosenberg quietly split earlier this year, her rep confirms, as the 41-year-old Napoleon Dynamite star asks for privacy to protect their daughters.

Well, this one stings: Haylie Duff and her longtime fiance Matthew Rosenberg have quietly gone their separate ways after 14 years together.

The split

A spokesperson for Duff confirmed to TMZ on Monday, April 20, that the two ended their relationship earlier this year. Duff, 41 — yes, the 'Napoleon Dynamite' alum — has asked for privacy to protect their daughters, Ryan (10) and Lulu (7). Us Weekly says they have reached out to Duff for comment.

How we got here

  • 2012: Duff and Rosenberg start dating.
  • April 1, 2014: He proposes on April Fool's Day, which is bold energy. On her 'Real Girl's Kitchen' blog, Duff shared how the moment caught her off guard and felt genuinely sweet. She was already celebrating news of her 'Real Girl's Kitchen' TV series at the time, so it was a double milestone. She wrote about feeling grateful for the love around them and excited to start a new chapter.
  • April 2020: Almost six years into their engagement, Duff told Us Weekly they were not rushing a wedding. Between two kids and two careers, life kept moving, and she said they were happy and in no hurry — and that 2020 was definitely not the moment for a ceremony.
  • Early 2026: The relationship ends. On April 20, a rep confirms the breakup and Duff asks for privacy for the kids.

The sister subplot

The timing here is tough. News of the breakup follows a stretch where Duff's sister, Hilary Duff, revealed they are not speaking — and that the estrangement inspired her song 'We Don’t Talk.'

'Absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment,' Hilary told CBS Mornings in February 2026. She added that sharing it publicly felt healing, even if growing up in the spotlight meant people knew more than she ever planned to share.

The next month, on the 'On Purpose With Jay Shetty' podcast, Hilary said she has heard from a lot of people dealing with the same kind of family distance. She explained that when she decided to make this new record, she stuck to writing about what she has actually lived through. Haylie has not publicly addressed the rift.

For now, the takeaway is simple: after a very long engagement, Haylie Duff and Matthew Rosenberg have split, they are focused on their two daughters, and that is all they are sharing.
