Guy Pearce Steps Away From Social Media After Apology Over Israel Posts
Actor Guy Pearce has publicly apologized for sharing misleading information about Israel and announced he will be taking a break from social media to avoid causing further harm.
Guy Pearce has issued a heartfelt apology after acknowledging that he shared inaccurate and misleading information about Israel while expressing support for Palestine. The actor addressed his apology to Jewish News, admitting that he had unintentionally reposted articles and statements containing falsehoods. In his statement, Pearce said,
“It has been brought to my attention that, in my support of Palestine, I have inadvertently re-posted articles, and/or statements, that have contained misinformation and falsehoods.”
He went on to express regret for the confusion and distress his posts may have caused, adding,
“I am aware how sharing inaccurate content can cause confusion and distress; for this I am deeply sorry. I will certainly endeavour to be more diligent in future to verify anything I share online.”
Controversial Posts and Public Backlash
The actor, known for his role in The Brutalist, reportedly shared online content from far-right commentator and white nationalist Nick Fuentes. He also reposted material that accused Israel of involvement in the 9/11 attacks and the assassination of Charlie Kirk. One of the posts he shared claimed that the largest pornography companies are owned by Jewish individuals. Earlier in the month, Pearce had also shared a post that read,
“Remember, when Zionists tell you Islam will destroy America… While several major Las Vegas casinos/hotels that have caused gambling addictions, debt and prostitution were created and owned by Jewish Zionists… The Zionists (not Jews) want you to fear the people who stand against the corruption they are creating.”
Decision to Step Back From Social Media
Following the backlash, Pearce announced his decision to withdraw from online platforms. In a recent post on X, he stated,
“Earlier this week, I issued an apology for sharing misleading and inaccurate posts and commentary on social media.”
He emphasized his commitment to making amends, writing,
“I meant every word of that apology but I recognize that meaningful action must accompany any apology. To prevent any further hurt, confusion or damage to others, I will be stepping back from social media for the time being.”
The actor’s announcement was shared on November 29, 2025, as he took responsibility for his actions and pledged to be more careful with the information he shares in the future.
