Grace Van Patten's Sister Anna Steals the Spotlight With Graphic Euphoria Scene: What to Know

Grace Van Patten and her sister Anna both ended up in headline-making TV lately — one playing Amanda Knox in Hulu 's new limited series, the other dropping into Euphoria season 3 with a scene that had everyone talking. It is a very specific career overlap: true-crime prestige on one side, brutal HBO shocker on the other.

Grace's path: LaGuardia kid to Hulu lead

Grace grew up in New York City with her sisters and went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. Her first on-set experience was about as close to home as it gets — her dad, Timothy Van Patten (yes, the TV director- producer behind a ton of HBO classics), directed her in an episode of The Sopranos. From there she kept stacking credits: Boardwalk Empire, Maniac, and Nine Perfect Strangers. The big mainstream bump came when she played Lucy in Hulu's Tell Me Lies.

Then Hulu came calling again, this time with the lead in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. The series zeroes in on the aftermath of Knox being wrongfully accused in the Meredith Kercher case, her years in prison, and how she finally got out. Fun bit of development drama: Margaret Qualley was originally set to star, left the project, and Grace stepped in.

The sisters finally team up

The Knox series is also the first time Grace and Anna have worked together on screen. Grace plays Amanda; Anna plays her real-life sister, Deanna. Sharon Horgan and John Hoogenakker round out the Knox family lineup. The show premiered in August 2025.

And yes, Amanda Knox herself is involved behind the camera. She is an executive producer on the series, which is not something you see every day when the subject is still very much around to weigh in.

"I will say that Grace is f***ing amazing. That is what I will say," Knox told Us Weekly in March 2025. "I am in a very, very privileged position as someone who is a subject of a story. Typically someone in my position — the subject — does not get to be an executive producer of their own show."

Anna's turn: from teen soaps to Euphoria's deep end

Before stepping into Deanna Knox's shoes, Anna did the rounds on network and streaming staples: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, FBI: Most Wanted, and the Gossip Girl reboot. Then came Euphoria season 3, where she shows up at a strip club as a newcomer named Kitty. Her intro is rough: Kitty is put in a graphic group sex scene with customers. It is intentionally harrowing, and the show does not soft-pedal it.

How Anna sees the job

In January 2025, Anna sat down with her mom, Wendy Rossmeyer Van Patten, for a Modern Luxury interview and talked about how she is building her skill set. She went to a performing arts high school and majored in drama, then studied film at The New School. Her take was pretty practical: learning every side of filmmaking will make her better at the craft overall. Gossip Girl being her first job taught her the basics by being on set, and now she wants to get more hands-on behind the camera for future projects.
