From ‘Widow’s Bay’ to CBS: Jeff Hiller sticks with the supernatural
Fresh off Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay, Jeff Hiller is booking a multi-episode stint on a new CBS series — but which one is he joining?
As Aldrict, an old-world vampire who’s tormented Liz across centuries, Jeff Hiller is back in the spooky-comedy lane on CBS’s new series Eternally Yours. He’ll appear across multiple episodes, sharpening the show’s supernatural family drama with a rival who knows all of Liz’s old secrets.
The comedy centers on Liz and Charles, a married pair of vampires who’ve been together for roughly 500 years. Their latest headache isn’t a stake or a sunlight problem — it ’s their daughter, who’s now dating a human. Both parents are struggling with the relationship, and Aldrict’s reappearance only complicates things.
A ‘Ghosts’ reunion
Hiller’s casting also reunites him with Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the showrunners behind Ghosts. That CBS hit was the #1 comedy on broadcast, and Hiller previously dropped in there as a guest star.
On Ghosts’ fifth season, in the episode “St. Hetty’s Day 2: The Help,” Hiller played Jeff — an elite fine-dining server who was intense, hyper-competent, and deeply empathetic. The collaboration clearly clicked; Port and Wiseman enjoyed working with him enough to pull him into their new vampire comedy.
From Widow’s Bay to CBS
Hiller arrives off a massive run with Widow’s Bay, which broke the all-time comedy record at the Emmys this year with 14 Emmy Awards, surpassing last year’s mark set by The Studio. On that show, he played Dale, an awkward Town Hall employee who was meant to be a bit part — until his improvisation, expressive reactions, and on-set chemistry convinced the creators to expand the role.
Per Deadline, Hiller first appears in episode 3 of Eternally Yours and returns in multiple episodes throughout the season.
