In a 2019 YouTube video — years before she re-tied the knot with Ben Affleck — Lopez was surprisingly candid about her relationship history. She said she had three marriages under her belt at that point, and two were so brief (nine months and 11 months) that she didn't really count them.
Then she got to the why, and it was blunt in a way you don't often hear from mega-celebrities:
"It seems like in this life you're always surrounded by people so you're never lonely, but it's very lonely. So, I felt like if I got married, then I would always have somebody, but that's not how life works. That's not how it goes. It's a bad reason to get married."
Timeline-wise, that reflection came before she and Affleck got married in 2022. That marriage didn't stick either; they divorced in 2024.
