Robert Pattinson is in full plate-spinning mode right now: stacking prestige gigs on screen while figuring out first-time dad life with Suki Waterhouse. The guy who toggles between broody Batman and, soon enough, Scytale in Dune: Part Three is also attached to The Drama, The Odyssey, and Primetime. It is peak Pattinson, and yes, he is leaning into all of it.
The timeline, quick and clean
- July 2018: Pattinson and Waterhouse are first linked.
- May 2023: They finally hit a red carpet together at the Met Gala.
- Nov 20, 2023: Onstage at Mexico's Corona Capital Festival, Waterhouse tells the crowd she is pregnant.
- Early 2024: She posts snapshots from the pregnancy on social.
- March 2024: Their first child arrives. The three are spotted on a walk in Los Angeles with the baby in a stroller.
- April 12, 2024: During her Coachella set, Waterhouse shares that they had a girl.
New dad mode, Pattinson edition
At the London premiere of his dark sci-fi film Mickey 17, he admitted he assumed fatherhood would make him feel less reckless. Instead, it just made him happier. The way he put it to BBC News was blunt and kind of great:
"If someone told me I was going to die in a week, I’d be like, 'What? I want to spend some more time with my kid'. That’s a very deep answer."
He does not overshare about his daughter, but he will happily claim diaper supremacy. Asked if he is any good at it, Pattinson told Extra he can swap one out without the baby noticing:
"I’m an expert, like, the stealth nappy when the baby doesn’t even know they’ve had their nappy changed."
Where they are as a couple
They have not married yet, but the two are reportedly engaged, per People. Waterhouse told Today that watching Pattinson with their daughter is one of her favorite things. The family ’s low-key daily ritual? Getting silly in the pool around late afternoon. Her words:
"We have a routine of putting her in the swimming pool and jumping in and out of the pool. That’s just always the most fun. End of the day, 5 p.m., we all get in the pool and be silly. It’s amazing."
Explaining 'Dad is an actor ' is not going smoothly
In GQ, Pattinson said he tried showing his daughter clips of himself or of Waterhouse to connect the dots. She is not buying it. His go-to bit:
"If I am not getting any respect, I will be like, 'Who is this? Who is that on the screen?' And she is like... [blank stare]. And I am like, 'It begins with a D! Ends with a Y!'"
Waterhouse channels it into music
Waterhouse told Variety that becoming a mom — and how her relationship with Pattinson has evolved — shaped her new album, 'Loveland', which dropped July 10, 2026. Unlike her earlier break-up leaning tracks, this one is about family, love, and the messier emotional growth that comes with both. She did not sugarcoat the early days:
"I felt like my identity had been cut open in becoming a mother, and also having a lot of expectations on myself. Internally, there’s been quite a lot of turmoil, and just wondering if I’m doing the right thing. And especially, oh my God, the hormones right after you have a baby are so intense."
Songwise, 'Back in Love', 'Tiny Raisin', 'Morals', and 'Weirdo' pull straight from life with their daughter and her partnership with Pattinson.
Still keeping it private(ish)
They kept their child’s name and gender to themselves for a while and, even now, mostly steer clear of putting their family life on blast — but every so often, they let a small, carefully chosen glimpse slip out.
