Peacock tees up a haunting family mystery this November, as long-buried secrets rattle a quiet Georgia town — and the title’s worth discovering.
Karin Slaughter isn’t just handing over her bestseller — she’s running the show. For Peacock ’s limited series The Good Daughter, the author wrote every episode of the six-part run and serves as showrunner, while director Steph Green (Watchmen ) helms all six hours. Each installment runs about an hour, and Peacock is dropping them all at once for a full-on binge.

The story
Set in Pikeville, Georgia, the drama tracks estranged sisters Samantha and Charlotte Quinn, who survived a brutal home invasion two decades ago that killed their mother, the brilliant physicist Harriet “Gamma” Quinn. In the years since, Sam fled to New York and built a career as a patent lawyer, while Charlie stayed in Pikeville, defending clients alongside their father, Rusty, a defense attorney known for taking on polarizing cases.
When Charlie witnesses a deadly attack at her former high school — a principal and a student are killed — the shock pulls Sam back home at Rusty’s request. Old wounds, clashing memories, and family loyalties complicate the investigation as the Quinns are forced to relive the night that splintered them.
Cast and creators
Slaughter’s 2017 novel gets its first screen adaptation here, following the author’s earlier TV splash with Netflix ’s Pieces of Her. The new series lines up a sharp ensemble:
- Rose Byrne — Samantha “Sam” Quinn, a successful New York patent attorney reluctantly returning to Pikeville.
- Meghann Fahy — Charlotte “Charlie” Quinn, a determined local defense lawyer whose firsthand view of the school attack drags up family truths.
- Brendan Gleeson — Rusty Quinn, the sisters’ outspoken father, a defense attorney whose controversial clients make him a flashpoint in town.
- Olivia Williams — Harriet “Gamma” Quinn, the inquisitive, brilliant mother whose death still defines the family.
- Michael Dorman — Ben Bernard, Charlie’s estranged husband.
- Harper Steele — Lenore, Rusty’s longtime office manager and a surrogate maternal presence for both daughters.
