Fans have Chris Colfer spooked about a 'Glee' revival return
When it comes to returning for a Glee revival, Chris Colfer has a clear stance — and it might surprise some fans.
In a new interview with Bustle, Chris Colfer said he hasn’t been contacted about any return to McKinley High. Colfer — who played Kurt Hummel for all six seasons — added that he’s well aware how invested the fandom still is.
“I do know that Glee fans would probably come after me with pitchforks and jazz hands if I said no,” he joked.
He also signaled that coming back wouldn’t be simple. Colfer called the original production grueling and said the loss of Naya Rivera (Santana Lopez) would make revisiting that world emotionally tough. He isn’t committing either way yet; he wants to see what the plan actually is before deciding, and noted that some fans have crossed lines in the past trying to police his dating life.
Where the reboot stands
In September, Ryan Murphy said he’d finished a script for a potential Glee reboot, written with original co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan — the trio who penned the show’s first two seasons.
- Murphy has quietly checked in with about 10 original cast members; he described the conversations as “very sweet,” and said the enthusiasm was there.
- None of those actors has read the script yet; Murphy wants to write more episodes before sharing pages widely.
- No series order is in place. There’s a script and ongoing development, but no production start or premiere window.
2009–2015 marked the show’s original six-season run, and a new wave of viewers has discovered it on streaming, keeping reboot talk alive. For now, Murphy’s project remains in development without a confirmed production or release date.
