Fallout Showrunner Teases Return of Legendary Talking Deathclaws
Fallout TV co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet hints that intelligent, talking Deathclaws could make their way into future seasons of the Prime Video series, leaving fans eager for what’s next in the wasteland.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet, co-showrunner of the Fallout TV adaptation, isn’t closing the door on any wild possibilities for the show’s future. When asked about the chance of seeing intelligent, talking Deathclaws in upcoming episodes, she made it clear that the creative team is keeping their options open.
“I mean, nothing's off the table,”
she said, hinting at the unpredictable nature of what’s to come.
Robertson-Dworet went on to share her thoughts about these iconic creatures, explaining that she finds all Deathclaws sympathetic in their own way.
“The intelligent Deathclaws are obviously favorites, and I find, though, all the Deathclaws sympathetic, just because their creation is a human-influenced thing. It wasn't something they asked for. They're not just a product of natural evolution. This is the fault of human error and human hubris. So I feel like even if they're attacking you, it's kind of your own fault in a way.”
Deathclaws in Fallout Lore
Longtime fans of the Fallout games might remember the rare appearance of intelligent Deathclaws. These unique creatures first showed up in Fallout 2, where players could even recruit one named Goris as a companion. After that, they disappeared from the mainline games for years, only to pop up again in the mobile title Fallout Shelter Online and the TV tie-in Viva New Vegas.
While Deathclaws have always been a terrifying presence in the wasteland, the idea of them speaking and reasoning adds a whole new layer to their legend. Their origins, tied to human experimentation and ambition, make them more than just monsters—they’re a reflection of humanity’s mistakes.
Deathclaws on the Small Screen
In the Prime Video series, Deathclaws have already made a memorable impact. Season 2 brought these beasts to life with practical effects, first appearing in a flashback to Anchorage and later blocking the path to New Vegas for The Ghoul and Lucy. Their on-screen presence has been both thrilling and chilling, leaving viewers wondering what other surprises the show has in store.
With the second season currently streaming, fans are eager to see if the show will dive deeper into the lore and bring back the talking Deathclaws that made such an impression in the games. The creative team’s willingness to explore every corner of the Fallout universe means anything could happen as the story unfolds.
