Dylan Meyer has a "Hotel California" superstition, Kristen Stewart shares
Kristen Stewart says her wife Dylan Meyer has a very specific Hotel California superstition—and it’s not the one you’re expecting.
While walking Jimmy Fallon through the soundtrack for her new movie The Wrong Girls, Kristen Stewart said there’s one track her wife and director Dylan Meyer won’t mess with: The Eagles’ “Hotel California.” Stewart explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Meyer treats the 1976 rock staple like a bad omen and wanted it nowhere near the film.
“So she has this thing about Hotel California. It's like an omen. It's like very bad things can happen when that song pops up (for Meyer),” Stewart said. “I'm like, dude, storytell your way right out of that.”
Stewart also talked about the unique dynamic of being directed by her spouse. She said collaborating with someone she loves felt like a form of intimacy and that she enjoyed trusting Meyer’s vision on set, as Meyer wrote and directed the film.
Cast and story
The movie follows two best friends whose codependent routine gets blown up by a case of mistaken identity. Stewart plays Frankie opposite Alia Shawkat as Molly, with a couple of very opinionated cats lending commentary along the way.

Casting came first
In a separate chat with E! News’ Will Marfuggi, Dylan Meyer said she’d pictured Stewart in the role long before they were a couple — and joked the movie wasn’t why they started dating.
“I actually shared it with her probably seven years before we ever reconnected and started dating,” Meyer said. “When I first met her, I always wanted Kristen to be in the movie.”
