Did Soldier Boy Just Kill a Member of the Seven in the Wildest Way Yet? Here’s Why Fans Are Convinced
The Boys Season 5 is only three episodes in, and the war between Homelander’s Seven and Butcher’s crew is already spiraling—then Soldier Boy storms back from cryo-freeze, freed by his son, and turns the whole fight on its head.
Three episodes into The Boys season 5 and, shocker, we already have a messy new wrinkle involving Soldier Boy, Firecracker, and a killer virus. If you are not caught up, turn back now.
Spoilers ahead for The Boys season 5, episode 3, "Every One of You Sons of B*tches."
Quick recap: where Soldier Boy stands
- He gets thawed out of cryo by his son.
- He almost dies after exposure to a Supe-killing virus.
- He survives because his blood is V-1, which makes him immune.
- Now everyone wants more of that V-1 blood, and that scramble looks like it could shape the endgame of the season.
The Firecracker complication
On top of the world-ending stakes, Soldier Boy also hooks up with Firecracker. It reads like petty revenge aimed at the son he calls a 'freak,' except... that falls flat when you remember Firecracker and Homelander are not actually sleeping together. So if it is payback, it is pretty weak tea.
The theory lighting up timelines
Fans have already jumped to the next (very The Boys) possibility: that Soldier Boy, immune or not, is still carrying the virus and just passed it to Firecracker the old-fashioned way. Yes, as in: a Supe Transmitted Disease.

Crass? Absolutely. Implausible? Not really. Immunity does not equal non-carrier, and this show loves taking a nasty idea and pushing it to its logical, uncomfortable end. Also worth noting: the big fight this season is barreling toward a final showdown with Homelander, which means everyone in the Seven is basically walking around with a target on their back. Firecracker dying because of splash damage from the virus the Boys used on Soldier Boy would be a brutal, on-brand twist.
Or we go the other direction...
There is another option: pregnancy. Soldier Boy is definitely not shooting blanks — Homelander exists because of his DNA — and he does not exactly scream 'safety first.' If they did not use protection, it is possible. Do we have time left in the season to explore that in a meaningful way? Probably not, which is why I lean more toward the virus theory. Still, given Firecracker's whole doting dynamic with Homelander, a Soldier Boy baby would be a dark little irony as the series winds down.
Where this could land
Bottom line: Soldier Boy being immune while someone else pays the price is exactly the sort of collateral-damage storytelling The Boys lives on. Whether Firecracker ends up a cautionary tale or a walking twist, that bedroom detour likely was not just for shock value — even if the gun talk setup was funny enough on its own.
