Deadpool suit at stake in Ryan Reynolds' Times Square bet with Hugh Jackman

Ryan Reynolds has mapped out the humiliation in detail: the loser has to suit up and work Times Square like one of those costumed street characters, posing for photos until the winner calls it quits. If he’s the one who blows it, Reynolds says he’ll be the Wolverine out there. If Hugh Jackman loses, he’s in the red-and-black.

"The bet is that, so if I lose I have to go to Times square wearing the Wolverine suit and take all the pictures with all the people for as long as he decides if he loses he has to get in the Deadpool suit," Reynolds explained.

There’s one more twist: no masks to hide behind. Reynolds also joked about keeping the Deadpool suit… lived-in.

"No mask head to head to Times square. Hopefully I'm not washing that suit either and he's going he's going out there stand for as long as I want."

Reynolds laid out the wager while promoting Mayday on the On Film … With Kevin McCarthy podcast. The friendly feud is tied to a race the duo plans to run during the Valencia Grand Prix weekend — Reynolds repping Team Canada, Jackman riding for Australia.

The bit keeps their post–Deadpool & Wolverine rivalry going offline — and gives New Yorkers a shot at an unmasked Deadpool or Wolverine posing on a crowded corner.

Avengers reunion chatter

Separate from the bet, Marvel ’s next team-up is already sparking speculation. Marvel Studios has listed Reynolds and Jackman among the announced cast of Avengers: Doomsday, following the multiverse-heavy antics of their last outing.

Reynolds even crashed the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con presentation as “Jeanpool,” jokingly lobbying Kevin Feige for a spot, while Jackman appeared via a recorded message at D23 with Reynolds directing off camera. Reports — and alleged set images — have also floated the idea they’ll share the screen with Tobey Maguire’s Spider- Man, a rumor made easier to imagine after all that TVA business in their film.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently slated to open in theaters on December 18, 2026.
