Coachella Shake-Up: Lambrini Girls Exit as Singer Battles Acute Brain Injury
Lambrini Girls have pulled out of Coachella 2026 at the last minute after frontwoman Phoebe Lunny, 27, was diagnosed with a fractured neck and acute brain injury stemming from a misdiagnosed incident in Australia, forcing her to sit out on doctors' orders.
Last-minute Coachella switch-up: Lambrini Girls are out for 2026, and it is not for a minor reason. Singer Phoebe Lunny just revealed she fractured her neck and suffered an acute brain injury, which means no flights, no shows, and no desert mosh pits for a bit.
What happened
Lunny, 27, explained on Instagram that the injury happened in Australia, got misdiagnosed, and treatment started late. Doctors have benched her for six weeks from flying or performing. The band is postponing all upcoming U.S. dates so she can recover, with plans to keep their U.K. and European shows in late May on the books if all goes well.
'Long story short: I fractured my neck and have an acute brain injury ... Doctors orders are I can’t fly or perform for 6 weeks.'
She knows the timing stings, especially for fans in the States, and she made a point of shouting out the communities that have been showing up for their shows lately — the ones building spaces for dissent and solidarity when things feel bleak. That crowd energy — the mix of joy, anger, moshing, tears — is clearly the fuel for this band.
Lunny also said if this were just a broken leg, she would absolutely try to pull a Dave Grohl and play through it. But neck and brain injuries are a different conversation. They are gutted to miss Coachella, they are hoping the universe lines up so they can play it next year, and she expects to recover quickly. She also thanked fans for always showing up.
What changes at Coachella
Lambrini Girls were slotted for both Saturdays — April 11 and 18 — on the Justin Bieber–headlined bill. The rest of the weekends are still stacked:
- Friday, Apr 10 & Apr 17: Sabrina Carpenter headlines, with Teddy Swims, The XX, Sexyy Red, Katseye, and Devo.
- Saturday, Apr 11 & Apr 18: Justin Bieber headlines; you will still see Addison Rae, SOMBR, Jack White, Labrinth, David Byrne, and The Strokes among others.
- Sunday, Apr 12 & Apr 19: Karol G closes both weekends, joined by Young Thug, Major Lazer, FKA Twigs, Iggy Pop, Suicidal Tendencies, and more.
Meanwhile, about Bieber’s set
Bieber, 32, has been hands-on with basically everything: he negotiated his own paycheck, weighed in on the show’s creative direction, and even helped design the on-site merch (T-shirts, hoodies, hats — the whole spread). The set is built to spotlight his 2025 'Swag' albums while mixing in older hits he hasn’t done in years. He’s still been tweaking details as of this week, but most of the show is locked and already run through. Not every headliner haggles their own fee and sketches T-shirt ideas — that is some real behind-the-scenes involvement.
Bottom line: get well soon, Phoebe. Postpone what you need to, heal up, and fingers crossed we see Lambrini Girls back in the desert next year.
