Christina Ricci appears to have taken aim at Katy Perry’s Met Gala look, chiming in as Variety shared a flurry of photos of the singer arriving at Monday’s Costume Institute fundraiser in a futuristic face covering.

Christina Ricci saw Katy Perry at the Met Gala and, judging by her one-word response, was not impressed. Honestly, the vibe was pretty clear.

Ricci reacts to Perry's masked Met moment

Katy Perry, 41, hit the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4, in a white Stella McCartney gown topped with a full-on futuristic face cover that hid, well, everything. The theme was billed as 'Costume Art,' and Perry leaned hard into it with an alien- adjacent mask.

Variety posted an Instagram carousel from the carpet featuring Perry alongside Connor Storrie (from 'Heated Rivalry'). He joked along by shielding his own face to match her look, per the caption. Christina Ricci, 46, slid into the comments with a simple: 'Yikes.'

Us Weekly says they reached out to reps for both Ricci and Perry for comment.

The timing here is not subtle

Perry showing up essentially faceless comes while she is also dealing with serious accusations from actress Ruby Rose, 40, who says Perry assaulted her nearly two decades ago during a night out in Melbourne. Rose detailed her account in a series of Threads posts on May 12, alleging it happened at the Spice Market nightclub. She also said she stayed quiet for years because Perry later offered to help with her U.S. visa, and that she has since spoken to authorities.

'The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,' Perry's rep told Us Weekly. 'Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.'

Victoria Police in Australia confirmed they are investigating after a report was filed. Perry has not been charged with a crime.

Quick beats

  • May 4, 2026: Perry attends the Met Gala in a white Stella McCartney gown and a face-obscuring, sci-fi-looking mask that fits the 'Costume Art' theme.
  • Variety posts photos of Perry with 'Heated Rivalry' star Connor Storrie; he playfully hides his face in the pics.
  • Christina Ricci drops a one-word comment under the post: 'Yikes.'
  • May 12: Ruby Rose posts on Threads alleging Perry assaulted her about 20 years ago at Melbourne's Spice Market and says she later spoke to authorities.
  • Perry's team responds, calling the claims categorically false and labeling them dangerous lies.
  • Victoria Police confirm an active investigation; no charges have been filed against Perry.

So yeah, Ricci's 'Yikes' might be about the mask, the moment, the headlines swirling around Perry, or all of the above. Either way, it was a sharp little needle drop on a very public night.
