Cher has reportedly just discovered she’s a grandmother: Kayti Edwards, Julie Andrews’ step-granddaughter, says her 2010 fling with Elijah Blue Allman resulted in a daughter named Ever, now 15, according to The Sun.

Cher just found out she has a granddaughter. Not a baby. A 15-year-old. And the backstory is a lot.

The reveal, the mom, and the timeline

According to an interview published April 19 in UK tabloid The Sun on Sunday, former model Kayti Edwards says she and Cher's younger son, Elijah Blue Allman, had a brief relationship in 2010 that resulted in a daughter named Ever. Edwards is also the step-granddaughter of Julie Andrews, which is one of those Hollywood family- tree facts that sounds made up until it isn’t.

Edwards says Elijah, now 49, has not been involved in raising Ever because, in her words, he made it clear he did not want to be a parent. She also claims Elijah told his now-estranged wife, Marieangela King, about the child in 2021, which started whispers inside the family. Those rumors allegedly reached Cher, who contacted Edwards last June to ask what was real and what wasn’t.

"Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess."

Edwards says Cher had heard something about the situation from Elijah back in 2021 but wasn’t sure if he was being serious. When Edwards confirmed it, she says Cher was stunned.

Where things stand with Cher and Ever

Edwards describes Cher as still wrapping her head around the news but trying to build a connection. She says Cher invited her and Ever to stay at her Malibu place in September 2025. They had dinner, swam, and Cher reportedly showed Ever some of her concert wardrobe, including a pair of jeans, then chatted with her about school and, yes, boys. Edwards adds that Cher has sent Ever birthday and Christmas gifts and that she isn’t forcing anything; if a relationship grows, it grows. For what it’s worth, Edwards also claims she had been told by Elijah and his wife that Cher did not want to be a grandmother and that she should keep Ever away — which made the introduction nerve-racking — but her experience with Cher so far has been positive.

Us Weekly says it reached out to Cher’s camp for comment. People reports Cher’s rep declined to comment.

The legal mess running alongside all of this

  • Cher first petitioned to place Elijah’s estate under a conservatorship in 2023; that petition was denied in January 2024.
  • On Friday, April 17, Cher filed again for a temporary conservatorship and asked that fiduciary Jason Rubin oversee Elijah’s finances, according to court documents cited by Page Six.
  • In the new filing, Cher alleges Elijah’s situation has significantly deteriorated since the 2023 petition. She claims he spends money immediately and largely on drugs, pricey hotels, and limo rides. She also says he is being held at a psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire in an effort to restore his competency to face criminal charges. These are allegations from Cher’s filing, not independent findings.
  • Those charges stem from two New Hampshire arrests earlier this year. In February, police say he caused a disturbance at a prep school and was arrested on two counts of assault and one count each of criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. In March, he was arrested again after allegedly breaking into a home in Windham; he was charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, and breach of bail. As of April, he has not entered a plea in either case.

Quick family refresher

Elijah is Cher’s only child with her late second husband, Gregg Allman. She also has a son, Chaz Bono, with her late first husband, Sonny Bono.

One more note on the timeline: yes, the Malibu overnight Edwards describes is from September 2025, and the interview is from April 2026. The sequence, as Edwards tells it, is that Cher reached out in June 2025, then they met in person that fall.
