Charting Sylvie's MCU future, including a possible 'Avenges: Doomsday' comeback
As Avengers: Doomsday nears, a reported role you weren’t expecting hints an even bigger MCU multiverse crossover.
Sophia Di Martino’s name isn’t on the announced cast for Avengers: Doomsday, and Marvel hasn’t confirmed she’ll be back as Sylvie. Even so, chatter spiked in 2025 after a since-deleted Instagram post from Di Martino and separate reports about her stunt double being spotted near U.K. filming locations. Neither amounted to proof — just more smoke around a possible surprise.

What keeps the door open is where Loki Season 2 left her. Sylvie’s arc was deliberately left unresolved, with her crusade to protect free will — and her complicated bond with Loki — giving Marvel plenty of story threads to pull. In a multiverse movie promising heroes, villains and variants colliding, it wouldn’t take much narrative heavy lifting to fold her back in.

Maguire rumor raises the stakes
Adding fuel to the crossover buzz, insider Alex Perez said in August 2026 ( via The Cosmic Circus Discord and his Patreon) that an earlier version of Doomsday reportedly opened with Tobey Maguire’s Spider- Man battling the X-Men and their rogues’ gallery. Perez wasn’t sure if that sequence survived intact or was scaled back to focus on Spider-Man alone.
Perez also declined to say whether Maguire’s Spider-Man makes it out of Doomsday and the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, but said sources told him Maguire appears in both films. None of this is confirmed by Marvel, and big set pieces can change drastically before a movie hits theaters, but the rumor underscores just how far across the multiverse this story may reach.
Even without Sylvie in the mix, the movie has been billed as pulling in characters from the core MCU and the Fox-era X-Men and Fantastic Four corners, along with the Thunderbolts — the kind of sandbox where a Loki variant could plausibly pop up for a pivotal beat.
If Marvel’s saving certain returns for Secret Wars, Sylvie is an easy fit there too. But as of now, Marvel hasn’t announced Di Martino for Avengers: Doomsday, and her return remains unconfirmed.
