Captain America Brave New World Got 49% on RT: Here's Why It's Not Worth Your Time

The movie tries to do too much and ends up doing too little.
Captain America: Brave New World is released. The movie does not fail at the box office, although it is not a big hit.
We explain why the blockbuster is not much different from the latest Marvel series in terms of action quality and novelty of ideas.
What Is Captain America: Brave New World About?
Sam Wilson goes on a dangerous mission with his partner, the new Falcon. They must stop the illegal sale of Adamantium, which is carried out by the Sidewinder.
At the same time, Thaddeus Ross, is trying to negotiate with the governments of other major powers to jointly mine the precious metal from the so-called Celestial Island – the head and hands of a giant celestial being that nearly crawled out of the Earth's core during the events of Eternals.
But at a conference to which the leaders of other countries are invited, an attempt is made on Ross' life. Moreover, one of the shooters turns out to be the super-soldier Isaiah Bradley, Sam Wilson's teacher. However, he does not remember what happened.
Sam does not believe in his mentor's guilt and understands that someone has learned to remotely control the military. So he meets Samuel Sterns, a super-smart biologist whom Ross has been holding captive for many years.
Captain America: Brave New World Attempts to Unite Most of the Disjointed MCU Storylines
Captain America: Brave New World takes on an ambitious task – trying to clean up the mess of the MCU, which has swelled to an indecent size. Suddenly the creators remember the existence of the movie The Incredible Hulk: they return to the plot President Ross, his daughter and Dr. Samuel Sterns.
At the same time, the movie directly continues the events of the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – without knowing what happened there, it is a little difficult to keep track of all the new characters.
Also, for the first time since the release of Eternals, the creators draw attention to the fact that a giant frozen creature is literally sticking out of the Earth.
Captain America: Brave New World Looks Like a Harbinger of the Death of the "Old" MCU
In this sense, Brave New World seems hopelessly out of touch. This may be the "old" cinematic universe's last attempt to catch some air before its inevitable death.
The fourth and fifth phases have never been able to find their own tone or any kind of main plot: they hang around between various threats on the scale of The Avengers, get bogged down in the local problems, confuse the plot with new TV series and thus confuse their viewers.
At the same time, the most successful movie – commercially, of course, – was Deadpool & Wolverine, which was detached from the problems of the cinematic universe and not very interested in the integrity of the metanarrative.
And the biggest upcoming premiere, the new Fantastic Four, will most likely be a soft reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain America: Brave New World Is Not Different from Marvel TV Series
In terms of scope and mastery of execution, the movie differs little from the Marvel TV series. They have indeed become, as the apologists of the golden age of television predicted, the equal of feature films.
But there is a nuance: it is not the shows that have gotten better, but the movies that have gotten worse.
