The show ran on one cable network for nine straight seasons, then stopped appearing there in first run. It was not cancelled, and the Jokers are still shooting new episodes — here's what actually changed and where the new ones air.

For nine seasons the answer to "where is it on" never changed, which is exactly why the change confused people. The show didn't end. The channel did something else.

Impractical Jokers premiered on truTV on December 15, 2011 to 1.5 million viewers and became the network's defining series. In March 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery announced it was moving to TBS, and the reason had nothing to do with the show's performance: truTV was being rebuilt around a nightly sports block, carrying NHL, MLB, and NBA simulcasts along with sports movies and documentaries. The comedy inventory had to go somewhere.

The move, with dates

Season 10 had already been simulcasting across both networks, which softened the handoff. Season 11 premiered on TBS on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10/9c, and the show has been a TBS series in first run ever since.

"TBS has long been the home of comedy, making Impractical Jokers the perfect fit for our Thursday night lineup," Turner Networks president Jason Sarlanis said when the move was confirmed in June 2024.

Reruns kept airing on truTV afterward, which is the main source of the confusion. If you found an old episode on truTV and assumed new ones would follow, they didn't.

Where it is now

  • First-run episodes — TBS. Season 13 premiered July 23, 2026, after Deadline reported the renewal in March.
  • Streaming — HBO Max carries the seasons, with Hulu also listing the series.
  • Reruns — still on truTV, alongside the sports programming.
  • Catalog size — roughly 290 episodes and 45 specials across 13 seasons.

The change people actually noticed

The network switch is not why the show looks different. Joe Gatto is. On December 31, 2021, after nine seasons, Gatto announced he was leaving to focus on his family. Brian "Q" Quinn, James "Murr" Murray, and Sal Vulcano continued as a trio, and from season 10 onward the fourth slot has been filled by a rotating celebrity guest rather than a permanent replacement.

Three permanent Jokers, one revolving chair. That format is now older than the version with Gatto in it was when he left.

For viewers who dipped out around 2021 and came back to find a different channel, a different lineup, and a guest they didn't recognize, "cancelled" was a reasonable guess. It was wrong on every count.

Everything else that's still running

The franchise around the show survived the move intact: Inside Jokes, which replays episodes with behind-the-scenes commentary; After Party, hosted by Joey Fatone; the pandemic-era Dinner Party; the podcast, which launched in 2017; and the feature film released in February 2020. Local versions have been produced in more than a dozen countries, including the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and Egypt.

For the record: truTV aired Impractical Jokers exclusively for nine seasons and built its brand on it. The network that dropped it in first run is now showing hockey.
