Marvel’s Black Panther 3, rumored to be titled 'Shadows of Wakanda,' is gearing up to start production in London on June 15, 2026. The story will focus on Wakanda’s challenges after T’Challa’s death, with Shuri stepping into the spotlight as the nation’s new leader.

After months of speculation, the next chapter in the Black Panther saga is finally moving forward. The third installment, reportedly named "Shadows of Wakanda," is scheduled to kick off filming in London on June 15, 2026. While the official release date remains under wraps, the start of production signals that fans won’t have to wait much longer for more news about this highly anticipated Marvel project.

According to recent production details, the upcoming film will dive deep into the aftermath of T’Challa’s passing, exploring how Wakanda copes with newfound vulnerabilities. Shuri, portrayed by Letitia Wright, is set to take center stage, stepping up as both the nation’s protector and its leader. This direction continues the storyline established in the previous film, where Shuri assumed the mantle following the loss of her brother and mother.

Shuri’s Journey and the Future of Wakanda

Shuri’s rise to leadership was foreshadowed in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," and the new plotline suggests she will survive the events of "Avengers: Doomsday," premiering this December, as well as "Avengers: Secret Wars," set for release the following year. If the timeline holds, the third Black Panther film will pick up after these major Marvel events, allowing Shuri’s character to evolve even further.

Meanwhile, rumors have swirled about F1 star Damson Idris possibly joining the franchise. Addressing the speculation, Idris shared in an interview with Variety,

I am thankful to the fans. Of course, it 's rumors, but I love that movie. I love the world.

While Shuri is expected to lead this chapter, there’s a chance Idris could appear in future films, potentially as an older version of T’Challa’s son, first introduced in the post-credits scene of the second movie.

New Faces and Returning Favorites

As for the cast, the only confirmed newcomer so far is Denzel Washington, who will take on a role crafted specifically for him by director Ryan Coogler. Fans can also look forward to the likely return of Danai Gurira as Okoye, Michaela Coel as Aneka, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo. If Winston Duke’s character Mbaku survives the events of "Doomsday," he is expected to reprise his role as well.

With production gearing up and the cast taking shape, excitement is building for what’s next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For those eager to catch up, there are plenty of guides available on how to watch the Marvel movies in order and keep track of upcoming releases.
