Bond’s brutal reset is headed back to theaters for its 20th birthday. The official 007 account says a freshly optimized 4K restoration of Casino Royale is returning to the big screen “worldwide,” and U.S. theater listings have started popping up with shows in early October. A new poster accompanied the announcement, carrying the Amazon MGM Studios and Park Circus logos, and reports point to a remixed audio track for the re-release.
Craig’s first turn as 007 marked a sharp break from the Brosnan era, trading gadgets and quips for bone-crunching fights, bruising parkour, and those sweat-bead poker showdowns with Le Chiffre. The 2006 film ultimately grossed $606 million worldwide and set the tone for Craig’s 15-year run across five Bond movies.

As the anniversary bows, the franchise ’s future is stirring. Puck News’ Matt Belloni reported that test deals are already going out and that screen tests will likely begin right after the re-release. Bond writer Steven Knight is keeping quiet about casting, but on BBC Radio 4, Gary Oldman said the studio has already “picked” its next Bond — an assertion with no official confirmation.
Elsewhere, producer Amy Pascal has reportedly hinted a casting announcement could land by late 2026. For now, the only date-ish clue tied to anything official is the movie ’s return to theaters, with more specifics expected as exhibitors post showtimes.
