The show is opening up fan spots in Los Angeles — including those coveted seat filler positions — with specific call times, age rules and a strict dress code handled through 1iota, MTV’s audience partner.
How to get in
- Red Carpet Fans — check-in starts 1:00 PM PT
- Pit Fans (18+) — entry from 2:00 PM PT
- Seat Fillers (21+) — report by 2:30 PM PT
Seat fillers are the folks production moves into open chairs between segments so the arena looks full on TV. Expect to be directed by staff, shift sections quickly, and stay the entire event. Attire is typically formal — think cocktail or better — and phones stay pocketed when you’re on the floor.
Why this year matters
The 2026 VMAs are stacked: Snoop Dogg is hosting, Madonna is slated to perform, and Taylor Swift heads in positioned for a record-stretching night. MTV will also present Swift with the inaugural Artist-Director Award, recognizing her long-running impact on music videos.
