Asked what would actually get him back in the suit, Andrew Garfield didn’t hedge. On The Playlist’s podcast The Discourse with Mike DeAngelo, the actor said he’d only return to Spider- Man for something “very strange” — a full-on curveball take on Peter Parker that plays in a genre audiences haven’t seen yet. “I would need it to be very strange,” he said. “I would want it to be just completely unexpected, like a genre of Spider-Man that you’ve never seen before, that feels very left field.”
Garfield was on the show to talk about his new film, The Magic Faraway Tree, but the Spidey question inevitably came up — as it has ever since he and Tobey Maguire swung into Spider-Man: No Way Home. He didn’t shut the door on more web-slinging; he just made clear it would have to be a bold swing.

In a separate chat with Screen Rant, Garfield was asked about fan chatter sparked by the ending of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which reportedly hints there’s another Spider-Man out there. He said he wasn’t familiar with that theory and played coy when pressed on whether the tease points to Maguire — or to someone else entirely.
“I guess so. It could be. Who knows?” he said when asked if it was Tobey Maguire. “Or maybe Miles Morales. I don’t know.”
As fans have described it, the Brand New Day post‑credits scene shows Ned’s Spider‑Tracker pinging Spider‑Man in Queens before the signal cuts out, later picking him up far beyond Earth, and closing with the promise, “Spider‑Man will return.” Garfield’s comments didn’t add clues to that stinger — or tie it to any potential return.
