On the back of 2026’s blockbusters, AMC has chalked up a weekend to remember — but how big was the bump?

From Wednesday through Sunday, more than 10.2 million people packed AMC Theatres in the U.S. and its ODEON locations overseas, a five-day crush that the company says delivered its highest-attended weekend of the decade — and the biggest total weekend revenue in AMC’s history. The surge landed as Spider- Man: Brand New Day swung into theaters with a monster debut while Christopher Nolan ’s The Odyssey kept filling premium screens.

What broke the records

  • Highest total weekend revenue in AMC history
  • Admissions revenue record
  • Food and beverage sales record, topping the mark set during Avengers: Endgame in 2019
  • Record-setting results in Dolby Cinema at AMC
AMC says more than 10.2 million moviegoers visited its theaters worldwide over five days.

Two movies did the heavy lifting

Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivered the second-highest domestic and global opening weekend ever, reportedly launching to $927 million worldwide. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and fronted by Tom Holland, the Spidey revival didn’t just juice ticket sales — it supercharged concession lines and premium-format upcharges across the chain.

At the same time, Nolan’s The Odyssey kept playing like an event, having already sprinted past $700 million globally and continuing to draw crowds specifically to the biggest screens. AMC flagged record-setting Dolby Cinema business and noted that IMAX 70mm engagements are still running essentially around the clock at AMC Lincoln Square 13 in New York.

There was even a scheduling quirk behind the double punch: Holland reportedly faced a clash between the two productions before a six-month delay cleared his calendar, letting him anchor both films in the same season. For AMC, the overlap meant two massive, must-see theatrical plays landing back-to-back — and a lobby full of sold-out showtimes to prove it.

AMC’s five-day figure includes both its U.S. circuit and its ODEON cinemas abroad; the company framed the turnout as its biggest of the decade, powered by a new Spider-Man high-wire act and Nolan’s premium-format endurance. With IMAX 70mm screenings still spinning at Lincoln Square 13, the big-screen stampede isn’t done yet.
