Alex Cooper Drops Alleged DMs With Brianna Chickenfry LaPaglia, Fueling Fresh Drama
Alex Cooper fires back after Brianna Chickenfry LaPaglia sides with Alix Earle, blasting the girl-on-girl drama and vowing to address Brianna directly in a scathing Instagram Story.
Alex Cooper just dragged her feud into the daylight, receipts in hand. After Alix Earle tossed shade and Brianna 'Chickenfry' LaPaglia backed her up, the 'Call Her Daddy' host and Unwell Network founder jumped on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, April 15, to show DMs, set timelines, and call out what she says is a fake pile-on.
'This girl on girl s*** needs to stop.'
Cooper says: I have never even met Brianna
Cooper, 31, framed her post as a response to Brianna adding to a narrative she says is not true. Her main point: she has never met LaPaglia in person, and every interaction they have ever had is in the DMs. Then she posted screenshots to back it up, starting in 2022.
- October 2022: LaPaglia DMd Cooper apologizing after hearing from Barstool founder Dave Portnoy that Cooper hated her. Cooper replied that she never said that and, in fact, had told Portnoy Brianna was doing great at Barstool.
- LaPaglia called Cooper 'the queen of everything.' Cooper shared a screenshot of texts with Portnoy about the situation and told Brianna she respected what she was building. Cooper ended with a breezy 'Omg lol love you all good over here. Keep crushing tell Dave to shut up.'
- 2023: Brianna reacted to Cooper's Instagram Story with support.
- 2024: After LaPaglia's breakup with Zach Bryan, Cooper sent a message of support. Brianna replied: 'Thank you Alex. feels so embarrassing I stayed so long but emotional abuse is so real. Happy to be out.'
- Final screenshot: more friendly back-and-forth, ending with Brianna giving Cooper her phone number.
The Grace O'Malley wrinkle
Cooper also tried to clear up the business side. She says she never invited Brianna on 'Call Her Daddy,' and that when Brianna stopped podcasting with Plan Bri and, as Cooper put it, Grace O'Malley 'no longer had a show,' Unwell reached out and offered Grace a podcast. Cooper insists neither she nor Unwell spoke negatively about Brianna during any of this. She repeats that their only dealings were cordial DMs. She ends by saying she is going back to the Alix situation and that this is not a PR stunt.
Brianna fires back
LaPaglia answered on her own Instagram Story the same day, saying Cooper had posted a TikTok claiming she is not a mean girl because their past DMs were nice. Brianna says those DMs were before she 'found out everything' about Cooper. She also shuts down the idea that any of this is manufactured drama, telling people who think so to 'get a brain cell.'
'I was a fan of Alex Cooper before I knew the wrath of f***ing Alex Cooper and what she does to people and how she treats people.'
Brianna says she is friends with Alix Earle, and that Earle told her what went down between her and Cooper two years ago. According to Brianna, Alix told her the story at the Super Bowl, but whatever happened did not take place at the Super Bowl itself. Brianna says it is not her story to tell, so she is not spilling details.
She also alleges that when Cooper signed Grace O'Malley to Unwell, Cooper told Portnoy, 'I don't give a f*** about Grace. I don't give a f*** about Brianna. All I care about is making money.' That is Brianna's account of a call she says Dave made to her; Cooper has not responded to that specific claim.
Where Alix Earle fits in
This all bubbled up after Earle publicly sided against Cooper. Earle's 'Hot Mess' podcast had been dropped by Cooper's Unwell Network, and Earle recently reposted a TikTok that took a swipe at Cooper. On Monday, April 13, Cooper posted a TikTok asking Earle to address their feud publicly. Earle replied: 'OK on it!!'
Bottom line
Cooper is leaning on a DM paper trail to argue this beef with Brianna came out of nowhere. Brianna says the DMs were before she learned more about Cooper from Earle and from her own Barstool orbit, and she is comfortable calling Cooper mean based on that. Both say this is not a stunt. Now we wait for Earle to actually 'be on it' and put her version on the record.
