Ahsoka Season 2 Delayed to 2027, Breaking Star Wars’ 7-Year Release Streak
Ahsoka Season 2 has been delayed, leaving Star Wars’ 2026 slate looking thin as Rosario Dawson’s title hero won’t be returning as soon as expected.
Welp. If you were counting on Ahsoka to carry Star Wars TV in 2026, you can take that off the calendar.
Ahsoka Season 2 got pushed to 2027
Rosario Dawson hit the stage at Disney 's Upfront and confirmed what fans were quietly dreading: Ahsoka Season 2 isn’t landing until 2027. Disney and Lucasfilm did screen a sizzle reel and share some behind-the-scenes photos for media in the room, but the headline is the delay.
"I can tell you this season, the battles are bigger and the stakes are higher. We cannot wait for you to see."
That line came straight from Dawson at the event, as relayed by StarWars.com. So the show is charging up for something big — we just have to wait longer to see it.
Why that stings for 2026
Since 2019, there’s been at least one live-action Star Wars series every year. With Ahsoka shifting to 2027, 2026 is now officially the year that streak breaks. If you like your Star Wars in live-action on TV, next year just got a lot quieter.
Where Season 1 left everyone
A quick refresher on the chessboard: Ahsoka Tano started life in animation with Ashley Eckstein voicing the character, then made the jump to live-action in The Mandalorian Season 2 with Dawson taking over. Her spinoff ’s first season plugged right into the Mando-connected corner of the galaxy, brought Grand Admiral Thrawn back from exile in another galaxy, and then stranded Ahsoka and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) on the extragalactic world Peridea. Not exactly a tidy wrap-up.
- Ahsoka Season 2 is now planned for 2027, per Rosario Dawson at Disney's Upfront.
- Disney/Lucasfilm showed a sizzle reel and BTS images to press at the event.
- Dawson promised bigger battles and higher stakes next season.
- 2026 will be the first year since 2019 without a live-action Star Wars series.
- Story status: Thrawn is back; Ahsoka and Sabine are stuck on Peridea.
- Cast context: Ahsoka was originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein; Rosario Dawson plays her in live-action; Natasha Liu Bordizzo co-stars as Sabine Wren.
