After her Oscar win, Mikey Madison says overthinking keeps her grounded
After her Oscar win, Mikey Madison says an unlikely habit is keeping her grounded as the spotlight intensifies — and it’s not the usual Hollywood mantra.
In a new People interview, the 27-year-old says life looks very different since her 2025 Best Actress win for Anora—but her mindset hasn’t budged. She credits a lifelong habit of second-guessing herself with keeping the spotlight in perspective.
“I feel like so much has changed, but at the same time, I still feel exactly like I always have in a lot of ways. I’m too much of an overthinker and too self-critical to ever get a big head.”
That grounded approach arrives as Madison moves into Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning, a sharp turn from Anora’s raw emotional chaos to a real-world story about technology, power, and accountability.
She said the Anora breakout opened doors to “interesting characters” and filmmakers she’s admired for years, and she even name-checked dream scene partners: Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep.
Oscars déjà vu
Madison also shared a surreal moment from the 2025 Academy Awards with USA Today, crediting her brother, Miles Madison, with a pre-show prediction that weirdly came true on live TV.
“He had a dream the night before – it was almost like a premonition of sorts – we were listening to music and then we were dancing in the audience.” “It was so strange because then there was a commercial break, and they put music on, and Colman Domingo was getting everyone out of their seats and dancing. He was like, ‘This is just like the dream I had!’”
Next up for Madison is Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning.
