After Flight Ordeal, Natasha Lyonne Steals the Spotlight at Lorne NYC Premiere
Days after reports she was asked to leave a flight, Poker Face alum Natasha Lyonne made a sleek red carpet return in a black dress and crisp white button-down at the Lorne documentary premiere in New York City on Thursday, April 9.
Natasha Lyonne just did the classic Hollywood double: a messy travel headline followed by a glam red carpet. Two days after reports she was asked to leave a Los Angeles-to-New York flight, the 47-year-old 'Poker Face' star showed up at the New York premiere of the Lorne Michaels documentary on Thursday, April 9, looking unbothered and very much present.
The reported in-flight incident
Earlier on Thursday, multiple outlets said Lyonne was asked to deplane a Delta red-eye on Tuesday, April 7, not long after attending the 'Euphoria ' season 3 premiere in LA. An eyewitness told Page Six she seemed out of it in first class and didn’t respond when flight attendants asked her to close her laptop and buckle up for takeoff. At one point, she apparently nodded off, got startled awake, and blurted, 'Ah! You scared me!'
The plane returned to the gate. A Delta staffer boarded and, per the witness, asked if Lyonne needed medical attention and told her she needed to come off the aircraft, offering help with her bags. Lyonne reportedly asked, 'Where are we?' A flight attendant answered that they were still in LA and the plane was not going anywhere until she deplaned.
She ultimately walked off with her luggage. The flight was delayed just over an hour. The captain addressed passengers with a very to-the-point explanation:
'We have a passenger who, for whatever reason ... wouldn’t follow some basic commands. We had a passenger who didn’t seem up to the task tonight, so that’s why they were asked to be booked on another flight — I do apologize for the inconvenience, but we will get you to New York as quickly and as safely as possible.'
And then, the premiere
Cut to Thursday night: Lyonne hit the carpet for the 'Lorne' documentary in New York City. She wore a black dress over a white button-down, and the guest list was stacked with New York staples like Amy Schumer, David Letterman, and Anna Wintour. The film focuses on 'Saturday Night Live' creator Lorne Michaels, so yes, it was a very industry-crowd kind of night.
Lyonne’s not-exactly-denial on X
Also Thursday, Lyonne seemed to nod to the whole airport situation on X, pairing a shoutout to airport workers with a note about a missed TV appearance:
'My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports. 💞 Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess wasn’t in the cards.'
She was reportedly slated to be on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' on Wednesday, April 8.
