While nostalgia crowns the 70s, 80s, and 90s, today’s sitcoms have rewritten the playbook — with The Office, Arrested Development, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine proving we’re in a new golden age.

If you were waiting to finish The Conners on Netflix, the wait just ended. The final season is up, the rest was already there, and yes, it genuinely stuck the landing better than it had any right to. For a genre that keeps evolving — think The Office, Arrested Development, Brooklyn Nine-Nine — this one quietly became a modern network staple and then bowed out on its own terms.

The Conners is now complete on Netflix

As of March 26, Netflix has the entire run of ABC's The Conners, including the newly added Season 7 — a brief six-episode final stretch. The earlier seasons were already on the service, so now it is the full set from start to finish.

Quick refresher: how we got here

The Conners spun directly out of Roseanne. After the Roseanne Barr controversy ended that revival, ABC kept the show going in 2018 by centering the rest of the family in Lanford, Illinois — and by writing the matriarch's sudden death into the story. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert came back, and the ensemble kept the focus on a working-class household trying to make ends meet and make sense of life, one rough patch and one joke at a time.

That pivot could have gone badly. Instead, over seven seasons (2018–2025 ), it turned into one of the more reliable network sitcoms of the late 2010s and early 2020s. The show leaned into the 'this actually feels like a real family' energy that defined Roseanne, tackled the grief head-on, and gave long-running characters — Dan and Becky in particular — room to change. When you have three-plus decades of shared history among the cast, that chemistry shows up on screen.

Did it stick the landing?

On the numbers side: the first four seasons are the only ones with Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer scores, and those came in Fresh. Season 7 was short and you can feel the pace pick up, but it still drew strong notices and delivered the emotional wrap-up fans wanted — and for some, it played as a more satisfying farewell than Roseanne's original finale.

"Sweet, sentimental, compassionate" and "a nice way to go out after 37 years."

— Verne Gay, Newsday, on Season 7

If you fell off somewhere in the middle, this is an easy binge to finish — six final episodes, a proper goodbye, and a surprisingly graceful curtain call for a TV family that started in the late '80s and somehow still felt current in 2025.
