A touch of Batman for Primetime’s Chris Hansen, says Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson says his game plan for playing Chris Hansen in Primetime taps into Batman — just not the way you might expect.
The script started as something lighter, but as it tightened into a thriller, Robert Pattinson says he began playing up the entrance-and-interrogation theatrics — the very stuff he honed under the cowl. In a chat with Premiere France at the Venice Film Festival, he explained that shift while discussing Primetime, the psychological feature in which he reportedly portrays a version of “To Catch a Predator ” host Chris Hansen.
“As we turned it into a kind of thriller, I think I started bringing elements to the Batman, all this charismatic, juicier stuff that interferes in people’s lives,”
That interview, relayed by fan site The Batman Saga News, frames Primetime as a darker, more suspense-driven project than initially conceived. Pattinson also pointed to the way both Batman and Hansen favor big, theatrical reveals — an approach he leaned into as the tone of the film evolved. The movie is directed by Lance Oppenheim.
Batman still in the room
Even while out promoting Primetime, Pattinson keeps fielding questions about his next trip to Gotham. He recently addressed two hot-button topics — how (or if ) his take on the character might cross over with the new DC universe, and how different the sequel will feel from the first film.
- To LADbible, Pattinson said it would be tough for his Batman to slot into James Gunn ’s DCU .
- Speaking with Collider, he said The Batman: Part II takes an entirely different approach from the 2022 movie and is very ambitious.
For now, Warner Bros. has The Batman: Part II dated for October 2, 2026 .
