Our list starts with the French series Anthracite. It's a fascinating thriller that will remind many of Harlan Coben's novels, as the series has enough dark revelations and thrills to keep you glued to the screen.

30 years after a gruesome mass suicide by members of a local cult in a remote Alpine town, another murder has occurred, and all evidence points to a ritualistic killing. Ida (Noemi Schmidt), an eccentric young Internet sleuth, takes on the case. She is brought to town by the disappearance of her father, a reporter who went to investigate the murder but was kidnapped.

The boy is forced to enter the criminal underworld in order to protect his family and grow into a decent person.
