Some of them are funny and others are scary.

The first Shrek movie was released in 2001 and immediately captivated viewers with its unconventional approach. Although the characters' stories have been told, blank spots in their biographies have allowed fans to come up with many unusual theories.

1. Duloc Was Destroyed by Shrek and Fiona

In the first film, Lord Farquaad banishes all the animals to the swamp of the ogres. He then approaches the lord and negotiates a deal.

If Shrek brings the princess, the lord will become the king of Duloc. In return, the ogre will get his lands back. In the end, Shrek reunites with his love, and Farquaad is eaten by the dragon.

But what happens to Duloc? In the sequels, Shrek and Fiona split their time between the swamp and the Far, Far Away Kingdom.

In the 2010 short film Scared Shrekless, the city is shown to be destroyed and abandoned. This suggests that the main characters destroyed it. The dragon had already broken through Duloc's defenses once, so nothing prevented her from doing so again.

2. The Dragon Is Also a Cursed Princess

One of the main plot twists in the first movie is that the dragon guarding Fiona is actually kind. Fans have speculated that her strange behavior might be connected to her origin.

In the book, we see a cursed princess in a tower. In the pictures, however, the princess is blonde, while Fiona is a redhead.

Perhaps the mistake in these tales is that the dragon does not guard the enchanted princess – she is the princess. Unlike Fiona, she was never disenchanted. However, it seems that she found her happiness in the form of a huge lizard – with Donkey.

3. Lord Farquaad Is the Son of Snow White and the Dwarf

Lord Farquaad is short and has an unpleasant character. He also possesses a magic mirror. If you look closely, you will notice that the color and hairstyle of Lord Farquaad's hair are very similar to Snow White's.

Farquaad even wears a suit with lantern-shaped cutout sleeves, just like hers, except in a different color. This led to the theory that Snow White is the lord's mother. She gave her son a mirror.

But who is his father? Farquaad's height suggests that his other parent is one of the dwarves. Grumpy comes to mind immediately – he was always dissatisfied with everything and wore a red suit with a black belt.

4. Fiona Was Cursed by the Fairy Godmother

Prince Charming's mother once made a pact with King Harold: their children would marry and become heirs to the throne. It is possible that she cursed Fiona, forcing her to turn into an ogre. She did this to ensure her plan would be fulfilled.

According to the plan, Charming was supposed to rescue Fiona. He would rescue her from the tower, kiss her, lift the curse, and take the throne as everyone's favorite.

Perhaps no one else could have saved Fiona from turning into an ogre, which would have forced her to wait for the prince.
