2026 viewing guide: whether a 'Dollhouse' movie exists, and where to watch it

Search “Doll House” this Halloween and you’ll run into two completely different movies. One is a new Japanese horror film — Doll House (2025 ) — from director Shinobu Yaguchi, starring Masami Nagasawa as a grieving mother and Ken Yasuda as her husband. The setup is pure nightmare fuel: after the couple’s 5-year-old daughter dies, the mother finds a doll that looks just like her child and starts treating it as part of the family.

That fragile illusion shatters when she gives birth to another daughter, kicking off a run of increasingly bizarre, jumpy, skin-crawling events. It’s a straight-up horror play, built around a parent’s worst fears and the uneasy power we give to the things we keep around to remember.

Doll House (2025) isn’t streaming in the U.S. yet.

Don’t confuse it with the other Doll House (2022) — a Filipino drama that’s on Netflix . That one follows a rock singer trying to reconnect with his long-lost daughter. Same title, totally different lane: a family tearjerker, not a killer-toy scarefest.

If the 2025 horror title isn’t available where you are, Netflix has some solid shivers ready to go:

• Creep (2014) — A videographer answers a Craigslist ad to film a stranger at a remote mountain cabin and realizes the guy isn’t what he seems.
• Malevolent (2018) — Florence Pugh plays a scam psychic who fakes hauntings with her brother, until they run into a very real presence.
• Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) — A fresh group of visitors stumbles into Leatherface territory and pays for it, fast.

All three are currently streaming on Netflix in the U.S.
