Zendaya on Tom Holland: “The greatest gift” my career ever gave me
Zendaya has opened up about her bond with Tom Holland, reflecting on how it’s evolved alongside the Spider-Man franchise — and she puts it in disarmingly simple terms.
On the London red carpet for Spider- Man: Brand New Day , Zendaya didn’t hesitate when MTV UK asked who in the business she’s most grateful to have grown up alongside. She pointed straight to Tom Holland, calling their years of working together one of the real joys of her career.
“Well, Tom, obviously, my best friend, but being able to do these films with him is a privilege, and I love to be able to grow together and watch him. I mean, he’s the best.”
The pair met after being cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2016 and confirmed their relationship in 2021. They’ve kept showing up for each other as their blockbuster schedules roll on, reuniting again for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The nicknames bit
Zendaya also had some fun with the press while chatting with Heart’s Showbiz Kidz, sharing that her circle rarely sticks to just one name. Family members call her “Marie” and plenty of friends go with “Daya,” but it was a sibling special that got the biggest laugh.
“My brothers call me Big Head because I have a big head,”
she joked, adding that doctors measured her head twice when she was born because they thought the first reading had to be a mistake.
Holland chimed in that a few close friends call him “Tommy,” which genuinely surprised Zendaya — she admitted she’d never actually heard anyone use it around him.
