Your Netflix Watchlist Just Got Bigger: Every New Movie and Show Dropping This Week (April 27)
CinemaCon just lit up Las Vegas with first looks and big reveals for the year’s most anticipated films — now the countdown begins. While we wait, Netflix is stepping in with fresh drops to keep your watchlist buzzing.
CinemaCon just blasted us with shiny footage and big teases for the months ahead, which is great until you remember we still have to, you know, wait. In the meantime, Netflix has a low-key but solid week of fresh stuff to stream. The headliner is a new Stranger Things companion project, plus a Kevin Hart stand-up special, a kids juggernaut returning, and a handful of curios with very literal titles.
This week on Netflix
- April 20: CoComelon Lane Season 7; Funny AF With Kevin Hart
- April 21: Unchosen; Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill
- April 22: Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool; Million Dollar Secret Season 2; Santita; Sold Out on You; This Is a Gardening Show
- April 23: Flunked; Running Point Season 2; Stranger Things: Tales From '85
- April 24: Apex
- April 26: Supernova Strikers Genesis
- April 27: Straight to Hell
The standout is Stranger Things: Tales From '85 on April 23. Netflix is positioning it as a companion to the main series. The title tells you exactly what lane it is in, timing-wise, and yes, that should tide over anyone itching for another Hawkins fix.
If you want laughs, Kevin Hart has a new special, Funny AF With Kevin Hart, dropping April 20. It is exactly what it sounds like: Hart doing Hart. Also on the 20th, CoComelon Lane Season 7 arrives to keep the little ones hypnotized while you reclaim 22 minutes of your life.
April 22 is busy: Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool for the music crowd; Million Dollar Secret Season 2, which is very much not for kids; plus Santita, Sold Out on You, and a show flat-out called This Is a Gardening Show. No mystery there.
April 21 has Unchosen and Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill, and April 23 stacks Flunked alongside Running Point Season 2 if you are in the mood to sample a few different vibes on one day. Midweek brings a lone-wolf entry, Apex, on April 24, then Supernova Strikers Genesis lands April 26, and the week caps off with Straight to Hell on April 27.
It is a chill slate overall, but if you are circling just one thing, Tales From '85 is the marquee play. The rest is a nice mix of comfort TV, docu-stuff, and titles that sound like they were named by a committee in the best way possible.
