Who was Landman season 2 in memory of? The story behind the finale's title card
The Landman season 2 finale, "Tragedy and Flies," dropped on Paramount+ on January 18, 2026, and closed the way Taylor Sheridan's shows often do — with a name on a black card. Viewers went looking for it in the credits and came up empty.
She isn't in the credits. She was never on the payroll.
The short answer
The card honored Judy Ann Prachyl, who died on December 18, 2025, at 73. She wasn't cast or crew. She was a friend of the Sheridan family from Weatherford, Texas — the same town as Sheridan's Bosque Ranch — and a fan of Landman and Yellowstone. The card described her as "the nursing home OG."
Who she was
Prachyl worked in administration at Weatherford Independent School District and volunteered at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Her online memorial, quoted by The Mirror US in 2026, described her this way:
"known for her vibrant personality and beautiful smile"
The same memorial thanked Nicole Sheridan — Taylor Sheridan's wife — along with Traci Werne-Morrison and Johnny Holt for looking after Prachyl in her final years, which is the clearest public marker of how close the connection ran.
Why "nursing home OG" lands where it does
Season 2 spent a lot of screen time in assisted living, which makes the nickname read less like a private joke and more like a fit:
- Episode 1, "Death and a Sunset" — T.L. (Sam Elliott) is introduced arguing with a nurse at his facility about watching the sunset during dinner hours; Tommy learns his mother has died in memory care.
- Episode 4, "Dancing Rainbows" — the family drives to Canadian, Texas, for the funeral.
- Episode 10, "Tragedy and Flies" — the dedication card, after Tommy and Angela's closing scene in the backyard.
Does Sheridan do this often?
Regularly. His productions have a long habit of ending episodes with dedications to people who shaped the work or the family behind it, which is why the card format is familiar to Yellowstone viewers even when the name isn't.
Neither Taylor nor Nicole Sheridan has publicly discussed Prachyl beyond the card itself. Season 3 starts filming at the end of August 2026, per Billy Bob Thornton on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast — which puts a likely premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
