Who’s Who in Dugout Dads? The Sandlot’s Patrick Renna Leads the Lineup
Patrick Renna leads the cast of Dugout Dads, a new sports comedy reuniting several The Sandlot stars — call it a welcome bit of nostalgia.
Welcome back to the bleachers: Dugout Dads leans into the chaos on the sidelines, following an idealistic Little League father who jumps in as a coach and quickly finds himself up against the sport’s most intense competitors — the other parents. Patrick Renna leads the series as that dad-coach, with Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World) playing his wife.
The hook is pure nostalgia. The new comedy reunites a pack of familiar faces from The Sandlot — not in a sequel, but in a brand-new, unrelated story set in today’s youth baseball scene.
- Patrick Renna — idealistic Little League dad and coach
- Danielle Fishel — his wife
- Tom Guiry
- Chauncey Leopardi
- Marty York
- Brandon Quintin Adams
- Victor DiMattia
- Shane Obedzinski
- Grant Gelt
- Will Horneff
More than 30 years after The Sandlot, several of its stars are teaming up again.
A Sandlot connection
The 1993 baseball favorite is set in the summer of 1962, when new kid Scotty Smalls moves to town, gets taken in by a neighborhood team led by Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez, and winds up on a mission to retrieve a prized autographed ball from the scariest backyard on the block. Its cast became a generation’s go-to clubhouse.
- Patrick Renna — the wise-cracking Ham Porter
- Tom Guiry — wide-eyed Scotty Smalls
- Chauncey Leopardi — confident Squints
- Marty York — energetic “Yeah-Yeah”
Dugout Dads isn’t a remake of The Sandlot. It ’s a fresh comedy about the friendships, rivalries, and neighborhood politics that fire up around youth baseball — this time with the adults in the batter’s box.
