Who killed Alicia in The Chi? The killer walked out of the house — and two other men were left holding the blame
The Chi's season 7 finale ends with a murder committed on bad information, and with suspicion landing on people who had nothing to do with it. Here's who actually killed Alicia, why they pulled the trigger, and what creator Lena Waithe has said about the decision.
The Chi season 7 finale, "Rebirth," which hit Paramount+ with Showtime on August 1, 2025, ends with Alicia Lafayette (Lynn Whitfield) shot dead in her own home. The strange part: after a season of her collecting enemies on every corner of the South Side, none of them did it.
The killer was Roselyn
Alicia was shot by Roselyn Dickinson, played by Kandi Burruss — Douda's widow, a character who had been offscreen for most of the season. She confronted Alicia at home, accused her of murdering Douda, and emptied the gun into her. Alicia denied the killing, and truthfully so, though she admitted she'd wanted him dead. That distinction did not carry the room.
Then Roselyn walked out. Nobody stopped her; nobody else knew she was ever there.
Why she believed it
Because Nuck told her so. Roselyn's revenge tour actually started at the correct address — she went to Nuck, the man who really did kill Douda in the season 6 finale, in front of Alicia. He talked his way out by naming Alicia as the shooter, which had the advantage of sounding plausible: Douda had killed Alicia's brother, Quentin, and the feud was public knowledge. Creator Lena Waithe walked through the logic with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2025:
"Nuck does what he always does: he's going to say whatever he's got to say to save his life," Waithe said.
She also noted that Roselyn felt she owed Douda this much — they weren't just married, they were partners.
The two men holding the blame
Shaad and Victor arrived at Alicia's house after the fact and found the body. The police found them. The season's final image is the two of them — hands up, surrounded, with no connection to the murder whatsoever — while the actual shooter drives home. Waithe confirmed to THR the pair "literally have no connection" to the death and conceded things aren't looking good for them heading into season 8, which is already on the way.

The scoreboard, for the record
Alicia's season was built on avenging her son Rob, and nearly every bullet in that campaign found the wrong person:
- Zay — killed by Alicia in the season 7 premiere, on Nuck's word that Zay murdered Rob.
- Jamal — a food-delivery driver, killed in episode 6 when Alicia's shot at Reg missed its man.
- Alicia herself — killed over a murder she didn't commit.
- Nuck — killed Douda and Rob, and as of the finale has answered for neither.
Nuck's relief has a shelf life, though. Roselyn now knows exactly what he did to Douda — and she's the one character this season who finishes what she starts.
